A charity challenge is a physically demanding fundraising event, aimed at getting us out of our comfort zones, raising funds for wonderful charities and having an incredible, life-changing experience.
The Mount Kilimanjaro challenge is not to be taken lightly. The ascent alone involves one day of trekking - approximately 11-15 hours, made more strenuous by the effects of altitude and extreme cold. After all, it is the highest freestanding mountain in the world! Check out our itinerary >
The incredible organisations behind this challenge include:
Kids Helpline
Kids Helpline is Australia’s only free, private and confidential, 24-hour telephone and online counselling service specifically for young people aged between 5 and 25 years. Each week counsellors answer more than 5,500 calls and web contacts from children and young people - often regarding very serious issues:
- Every minute a child tries to contact Kids Helpline
- Seven times a day children contact us about child abuse
- Every day Kids Helpline refers a child to an emergency service to deal with a serious issue like child abuse or self harm.
Kids Helpline relies on community support to keep counsellors on the line. Your support truly does save lives.
School of St Judes
The School of St. Jude is a sponsorship-supported English Medium School in Tanzania that primarily serves orphaned and vulnerable children from the lowest socio-economic backgrounds. The school blends the best of Western and Tanzanian instructional methods to instill critical thinking in students who will later become the leaders and builders of Tanzania. The School of St Jude aims be an exemplary, modern and self-sustainable institution that effects a paradigm shift on the educational system in Tanzania.
Before the School of St. Jude opened in 2002, children in this area would either go to one of the local Government schools, or if this was not possible, they would not be able to attend school at all. The education system in Tanzania currently tests students, and if they fail the government exams they are forced to leave school at the primary level to work at ill-paid jobs, if any at all.
